Easy trip to the city

I grabbed a ticket for an intercity bus trip last weekend, just needed to get to the next town over for a concert. Booking it was super easy on my phone, took like two minutes. The bus showed up on time, which was nice. Had free Wi-Fi too, so I watched some videos on the way. Pretty chill ride overall.

Good value for a long trip

I needed to get home for the holidays and was really trying to save some money. I saw an early bird special for a night bus trip and decided to try FlixBus for the first time. The price was way better than what I expected to pay, especially for such a long journey. I even got extra legroom seats, which made sleeping on the bus much more bearable. Everything went smoothly, and I arrived feeling like I got a really good deal for my money. Definitely felt worth it.

Affordable but some delays

I used FlixBus for a cross-country bus trip, heading from Chicago to Denver. The price was great, much cheaper than flying, and I really appreciated the comfortable seating and power outlets to keep my phone charged. The free Wi-Fi was a bit spotty in some areas though, which was a minor annoyance. The biggest downside was that my bus was delayed by almost an hour at one stop, which messed up my arrival plans a little. Customer service was okay when I called about the delay, but they didn't offer much beyond an apology. Still, for the money, it was a decent way to travel, just be prepared for potential minor hiccups.

Traveled home for the holidays

So I needed to get home for Thanksgiving and didn't want to fly, you know? Booked a night bus trip. It was pretty chill actually. The bus wasn't super crowded, and I managed to get some sleep. The e-ticket made it easy to just show my phone. Overall, a solid way to travel without all the airport hassle.

Decent ride, minor hiccup

I took a FlixBus for an airport transfer. The ticket was reasonably priced, and the bus had all the advertised amenities like Wi-Fi and power outlets, which was great. The bus departed on time, and the driver was professional. My only minor gripe was that the seat selection I paid for wasn't exactly what I got; I was still in the right row, but not the specific window seat I chose. It wasn't a huge deal, but something they could improve on. Otherwise, it was a smooth ride and got me to the airport as planned.

Good value for a long trip

I was looking for the cheapest way to get from Chicago to Detroit and FlixBus definitely delivered. I signed up for the newsletter and got a 10% off code for my first booking, which was nice. The ticket for an intercity bus trip was already pretty affordable. The bus had Wi-Fi and power outlets too, which made the long ride much better. Felt like I got a good deal.

Detailed review of my FlixBus experience

I booked an intercity bus trip from New York to Boston. The booking process on their website was straightforward, I selected a reserved seat for a few extra dollars, which was a good idea for a popular route. The e-ticket was sent promptly to my email. On the day of travel, the bus arrived about 15 minutes late, but we made up some time. The bus itself was clean, and I appreciated having power outlets and free Wi-Fi, though the Wi-Fi was a bit spotty outside of major cities. My additional luggage allowance was handled without issue. Customer service, when I had a question about the luggage policy before booking, was responsive via their online chat. The overall journey was comfortable, and it arrived close to the scheduled time. For the price, it's a good option.

Always a reliable choice

I've used FlixBus several times now for cross-country bus trips, and they're consistently good. This last trip, I booked an extra legroom seat, and it was worth it for the longer journey. The buses are always pretty clean, and the Wi-Fi usually works, which is a big plus. I keep coming back because I know what to expect and they rarely disappoint.

is flixbus any good for long trips, like across states? i usually do amtrak but buses are cheaper.

C Colin Carter 1 month ago
I did NYC to Miami once, it's definitely doable. They have power outlets and wifi which helps kill time. Just bring snacks and a good pillow.

For cross-country, it's decent. Cheaper than Amtrak for sure. Just don't expect a luxury ride, it's still a bus. The wifi can be a bit spotty sometimes, fyi.

Anyone know if you can stack discount codes on FlixBus? Got a student one and a general promo, wanna use both if possible.

G Gwen 1 month ago
Nah, pretty sure it's one code per booking. Tried it once, didn't work.

Yeah, only one voucher at checkout. Most of those codes are also app-only sometimes, so make sure you're using the app if it's one of those.

can you actually change your ticket if something comes up? like if i book it for next week and then my plans shift?

N Neil 1 month ago
Yeah, you can rebook. I've done it online a couple of times. There might be a small fee depending on how close to the departure you do it, but it's pretty flexible.

They do allow rebooking, which is cool. It's not a full refund though, usually you get a voucher or something if you cancel. Changing the date for the same route is usually easier.

hey, trying to use a student discount but it's not showing up at checkout. am i missing something?

C Carly R. 2 months ago
Is it one of those ones where you have to verify through a student ID site first? Sometimes you get a unique code after that. Also, make sure you're doing it in the app if it's an app-exclusive deal.

R Ryan 2 months ago
Check if you're trying to combine it with another discount. Usually, you can only use one promo code per booking. Also, some codes are app-only, so that could be it too.

Is FlixBus actually better than Greyhound? I've only ever used Greyhound but thinking of trying Flix for a trip across the state.

R Ryan Beaumont 2 months ago
Oh, for sure. FlixBus buses are way cleaner, and the wifi usually works. Plus, power outlets! Greyhound always feels kinda dingy to me now.

C Cody 2 months ago
I think they're pretty comparable for shorter trips, but Flix wins on comfort for longer hauls. The seats feel nicer and the amenities are a step up. Greyhound can sometimes be cheaper though, so depends on your priority.
